TOURIST ATRACTIONS
In Ollantaytambo there are a wide range off tourist attractions which is the legacy of our ancestors. These areas are treasured by both national and international tourists.
OLLANTAYTAMBO TOWN:
Located 76km from Cusco by way of Chinchero and 90km by way Pisaq, Ollantaytambo is considered the last Inca living town. Its friendly inhabitants live in structures with little change from the ways of the past.. We can clearly see the streets, the channels, the roads, and the Inca terraces. Ollantaytambo is located within the valley and has a mild climate which makes it a nice place to relax.
OLLANTAYTAMBO RUINS:
Beautiful Inca town constructed in the shape of a fort where you can admire fine architecture. You will see altars and astronomical observation towers in addition to qolqas or barns.
PUMAMAMARKA:
Is located two hours from Ollantaytambo. It is an Inca site formed of fields where a representative of the Incas called Curaca lived. It is surrounded by beautiful landscape.
WILLOQ or PATACANCHA:
Farming Communities, descendents of the Incas, where it is possible to find families with Inca names, traditions and customs; they will transport you several centuries into the past.
CACHIQHATA:
An Inca quarry from where the stones to build the temple Ollantaytambo were transported.
THE WIRACOCHAN FACE:
Also, called Tunupa, it is a natural formation that has been fixed by the wise Inca architects, probably after the triumphs of the great general Ollanta. It was built on the west side of the apu Pinkunlluna.
TEMPLE OF THE CONDOR:
Beautiful Inca sculpture dedicated to the deity of Peace in charge of transporting spirits of death to the spiritual world.
MORAY:
Inca terraces constructed in a circular shape that served to acclimatize plants in the time of the Incas.
THE SALINERAS:
Beautiful salt mines that have been used for hundreds of years, approximately 4200 mines filled with water from a salt water spring. |
